By Greg Stanley, Star Tribune A large stretch of forest inside the Fond du Lac Reservation that has been in state hands for more than 100 years will soon be returned to the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. Minnesota lawmakers enabled the transfer of the 3,400 acres in a bonding bill signed by Gov. Tim Walz on Wednesday, resolving a yearslong push by the band and, more recently, by the University of Minnesota to return the land.
