A bispecific CD3×CD19 antibody for systemic lupus erythematosus: a phase 1 trial
Abstract Early-phase studies of deep B cell depletion with anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T have produced prolonged, drug-free remission in refractory autoimmune disease. However, CAR T cell therapy requires lymphodepleting chemotherapy, autologous cell manufacturing and specialized infrastructure, limiting reach to a fraction of patients who might benefit.

Correction to: Nature Medicine https://doi.org/10.1038/s41591-026-04578-1, published online 10 August 2026. In the version of the article initially published, the y-axis label in Fig. 3c, g and the right panel of Fig. 5c was “log10(Padj)” but should have been “–log10(Padj)”. This correction has been made to the HTML and PDF versions of the article.

Decade-long persistence of CD19 CAR T cells in B cell lymphomas
|
Abstract Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy induces durable remissions in lymphoid malignancies, yet the extent and biology of long-term CAR T cell persistence in B cell lymphoma remain unclear. Here we report the persistence and characteristics of 4-1BB-costimulated anti-CD19 CAR T cells (CART19) up to 10 years after infusion in 38 patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Think Change episode 44: tackling debt, transforming economies - why is the IDA replenishment so urgent?
Global public debt is at unprecedented levels. The UN has reported that nearly half of the world’s population lives in countries that spend more paying off debts to other countries than they spend on healthcare for their own people. While needs soar as countries try to address the impact of the poly-crisis and invest significantly to transform their economies and societies, economic growth is in sharp retreat in many nations in the Global South.
TET2 regulates early and late transitions in exhausted CD8+ T-cell differentiation and limits CAR T-cell function
Abstract CD8+ T-cell exhaustion hampers disease control in cancer and chronic infections and limits efficacy of T-cell-based therapies, such as CAR T-cells. Epigenetic reprogramming of CAR T-cells by targeting TET2, a methylcytosine dioxygenase that mediates active DNA demethylation, has shown therapeutic potential; however, the role of TET2 in exhausted T-cell (TEX) development is unclear.
If Pima County can effectively handle a migrant surge, why is it so hard for Congress?
It’s hard to imagine any American having faith in government — or its ability to solve a complex problem like immigration — when Congress can barely pass a temporary spending bill without getting mired in controversial issues like border security and coming dangerously close to shutting down the government. Fortunately, dysfunction is not the story in every part of the country.
Effects of Basicity Index on Incinerator Fly Ash Melting Process and Stabilization
Abstract : The generation of hazardous industrial waste in Taiwan has rapidly increased, reaching 1.5 million tons produced annually in 2021. Most of this waste was burned in incinerators, with about 15% (225,000 tons) of it converted into fly ash. Incinerator fly ash primarily consists of heavy metals, dioxins, chlorides, and silica. Historically, fly ash disposal has only relied on cement solidification, contributing to insufficient landfill capacity and soil-pollution concerns.
Profit from misery: How landlords use a ‘fire loophole’ against tenants
Photo credit: Jerome Clarysse/Pixabay On Dec. 10, 2022, the apartment building at 617 W 141st St. in Harlem caught fire and burned down, leaving residents displaced ever since. The culprit? Tenants believe it was an electrical fire caused by faulty wiring related to an illegal renovation. Allegedly, landlord Jonathan Samet was attempting to convert two rent-stabilized units into a market rate unit.

Suvorexant ameliorated sleep disturbance, opioid withdrawal, and craving during a buprenorphine taper
DISCUSSION This randomized controlled trial found that individuals who received 20 or 40 mg of suvorexant versus those who received placebo while undergoing a stepwise buprenorphine/naloxone taper experienced clinically relevant improvements in sleep duration, reductions in opioid withdrawal symptom severity during the post-taper period, and reductions in multiple dimensions of opioid craving throughout the study. Suvorexant did not demonstrate elevated risk for abuse or safety versus placebo.

Grupp, David M. Barrett and Kai Tan DOI: 10.1158/2159-8290.CD-20-1677 Abstract The adoptive transfer of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells represents a breakthrough in clinical oncology, yet both between- and within-patient differences in autologously derived T cells are a major contributor to therapy failure.
Opinion: Bangladesh is now 50. Here are 3 resilience lessons.
Garment workers at a factory in Bangladesh. Photo by: © ILO / CC BY-NC-ND Fifty years ago, Bangladesh declared its independence. At the time, it was considered by some to be an unsalvageable basket case. Despite this, Bangladesh has gained ground and even moved past its peer group and some of its neighbors, graduating from low-income to lower-middle-income country status. While Bangladesh has done well-raising incomes, its outstanding progress has been in human development.
Biden’s First 100 Days on Immigration: A Test of Leadership
President Joe Biden took swift action within the first week of his inauguration against several of his predecessor’s most reprehensible policies on immigration. He rescinded the ban on nationals of majority-Muslim and African nations and the Zero Tolerance policy that resulted in family separations. And the new president declared his commitment to defend the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program that provides short-term protection to about 640,000 undocumented people.

The Urgent Need to Restore Independence to America’s Politicized Immigration Courts
The Trump administration has subjected America’s courts to extreme politicization and relentless assaults in the past four years. At the highest level, the deeply partisan battle over the Supreme Court confirmation of Justice Amy Coney Barrett transfixed the nation. But an even more radical transformation has been occurring in America’s immigration courts that has gone almost entirely unnoticed yet impacts hundreds of thousands of lives each year.

Despite what this administration wants, the US can't close its border to asylum seekers
America should never aim to deter asylum seekers from securing life-saving legal protection. But the Trump Administration is implementing policies that systematically deny them protection even as families continue to flee from violence and arrive at the U.S. border in greater numbers. Last week, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that in August it apprehended 12,774 arriving families.
White House continues to strip due process from immigration courts
Arguably no previous administration has been more hostile to the judiciary than the Trump administration. The president himself has aggressively criticized courts that have ruled against him, sometimes resorting to personal attacks calling specific judges “political,” “ridiculous,” “so-called” judges, even referencing a federal judge’s Mexican heritage.
Trump's immigration enforcement plan misses the big picture
In his first months in office, President Trump proposed sweeping changes to the immigration enforcement system including building a Southern border wall, bringing local forces into detention and deportation, and adding thousands of detention beds. He has asked Congress for a $3 billion down payment for the plan which will ultimately add tens of billions dollars to what is already historically high spending on immigration enforcement.
