What was your first job as a journalist?
Reviewing albums at my college newspaper.

Yes, my parents gave me one for graduation.
How is social media changing news?
Social Media has changed the world. It has likely influenced voters to the same degree that it's predecessors (radio and television) have.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Shauna Malwae-Tweep from Parks & Recreation as she's tenacious and constantly finds herself in the midst of stories unfolding.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
To carry yourself with integrity and hold the world accountable

What tools and software do you use to do your job?
I use google docs to access and share stories. I also use Pixelstyle Editor for quick graphic design and garageband to edit podcast episodes

Facebook, but it is a love-hate relationship.

Why did you become a journalist?
I've always had an inclination to write, and a separate inclination to document what happens around me. Interviewing brings me joy.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No, I discovered journalism mostly in college. It was there that I climbed the ranks to become the award-winning editor of The Daily Helmsman
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
As an Editor-in-Chief facing scrutinization from the University about our coverage, my Op-Ed "We Stand By Our Story" makes me most proud.

Never stop checking the facts

The most common misperception is that Nashville is THE city for music in TN. The most original and captivating sounds come from Memphis
