What was your first job as a journalist?

Selling copies of Roll Call in House and Senate buildings. After that getting paid per story at Daily Free Press. First full-time job Ocala

Have you ever used a typewriter?

I used to have a portable Olivetti with a little custom suitcase carrier. I did work on it at Boston U's School of Communication and Freep

The Press Club of Atlantic City, N.J., recognized The Sun of San Bernardino, Calif., for Unnatural Disasters, a fire-flood series addressing land use, hazard history, and the events of October and December 2003. 2004 - Environmental Reporting: Edward J. Meeman Award

From Scripps Howard National Journalism Awards: "Honors outstanding environmental reporting. Award is given to encourage journalists to help educate the public and public officials on environmental issues." The devastating Old Fire in October 2003 was followed by deadly post-fire floods on Christmas Day 2003. My contributions helped The Sun earn recognition for the fire-flood series Unnatural Disasters.
