Nye olje- og gassressurser kan forlenge aktiviteten og verdiskapingen på norsk sokkel. Mye av den framtidige produksjonen vil være avhengig av plattformer, subseaanlegg, rørledninger og prosessanlegg som allerede er i drift. Dermed kan levetiden til dagens infrastruktur bli avgjørende for hvilke ressurser som faktisk kan realiseres. Framtiden for norsk sokkel sto høyt på dagsordenen under energimessen ONS i Stavanger.
