Pupils at Kinu Primary School in Kamuli District have been forced to study under trees after a hailstorm and lightning struck the school on September 11, destroying a classroom block and part of the teachers’ accommodation. The disaster disrupted learning as pupils returned for the third term on Monday, September 14, leaving several classes without adequate learning space.

The High Court in Jinja has set a maximum hearing period of four days for each election petition filed before the court, as the Judiciary moves to expedite the determination of disputes arising from the recent elections. The directive was issued by High Court Judge Lady Justice Aidah Nakiganda during a pre-trial conference with lawyers representing the different parties in the election petitions ahead of the commencement of hearings.

The Indian community in Jinja and Buikwe districts has launched a blood donation campaign targeting 10,000 units, more than three times the 3,000 units targeted in previous years. The campaign, held at Yogi Steel Company, is being conducted across factories in the two districts as part of efforts to address blood shortages in health facilities and save lives.
