Rights of Nature movement grows, with the Wye and Ouse subject to new protection charters
The River Wye winds its way along the Welsh/English border, and through the collective cultural imagination of its human neighbours, as it has done down the centuries.
Singing with Nightingales: a wild encounter of the musical kind reminds us what’s at stake
The sky is clouded, there’s no moon in sight, and the woods are dark; the last lantern has been ritually extinguished. I am among a small group of people walking quietly through coppiced Sussex woodland. Earlier in the afternoon, before dusk fell, the trees thrummed and trilled with lively birdsong. Great tit, wren, chiffchaff, robin, a couple of ducks flying home to their nest and newly laid eggs, the occasional noisy startle of a pheasant, and thrillingly, the first clockwork call of a cuckoo.
Who owns England? New plans make it a lot easier to find out
Just 1% of England’s population owns half of its land. Until recently, understanding precisely who owns what – obscured by paywalls and muddled by a lack of maps – represented an all-but-impossible challenge. But in March, as part of its new Land Use Framework for England, the UK government announced new plans to open up its Land Registry. If the plans are delivered, it’ll be far easier to find out who owns land across England and Wales.
Our experience as placement students for the Farmland Ecology Unit
By Hannah Marsh and Charlotte Russell, Farmland Ecology Placement Students It’s hard to believe how quickly the last six months have passed. The placement has flown by in a busy whirl of tubing samples, identification, data entry and analysis, and the occasional bits of fieldwork. Since September, much of our time has been concentrated in the lab, learning key invertebrate identification skills whilst working through samples collected during last summer.

Designate May as Soldier Month to Honor All Veterans
Signatures: 10Next Goal: 25 Why this petition matters I come from a family of military Veterans, from Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps. I find it very sad that out of 365 days a year only two of those days are put aside for our soldiers. For the month of June the world is forced to celebrate PRIDE month. Four weeks of nonsense for people who don’t know what freedom is.

Plus-Size Jewelry Is Finally Making Headway In The Fashion World
