(WLOX) - On April 15, 2024, Governor Tate Reeves signed Senate Bill 2339 into law, directing the State Board of Education to develop a curriculum related to the study of American Sign Language (ASL). The bill was first proposed by a Pearl River Central High School ASL and art teacher, Miranda Loveless. “We tried to get it approved in 2023,” said Loveless. “Because we had a new state superintendent, nothing was being changed in education.
