One Dead Following Confrontation With Canby Police

Canby, Ore. – One person is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Canby. At about 10:30 Thursday night, Police responded to a report of someone breaking into an apartment on Sequoia Parkway. Canby Police officials say when officers confronted the suspect, the person produced a gun and fired. Officers returned fire, striking the suspect, who was later pronounced dead. Clackamas County’s Major Crimes Team is now investigating. More about:

Portland, Ore. – A local nonprofit helping connect anonymous tipsters with detectives working tough cases will shutter at the end of the month. Crime Stoppers began in Oregon in 1983, with police agencies calling a land-line asking for tips from the public, “We started out, we had just a phone on the desk – it was red in color, we called it the Bat Phone,” says Henry Groepper. He was a Portland Police officer when he first started working with Crime Stoppers of Oregon.
