Hector Perla Jr. is a California trial attorney and author whose writing focuses on criminal law, due process, immigration, human rights, democracy, Latin America, and the exercise of state power. He currently serves as a Deputy Public Defender in San Diego County and is the author of Sandinista Nicaragua’s Resistance to U.S. Coercion, published by Cambridge University Press. His work has appeared in The Washington Post, the San Francisco Chronicle, The Warrior, and other publications.
