In 2013 and 2020 we contributed articles to the Journal discussing and discouraging use of jargon in transplant typescripts [1, 2]. However, our recent review of articles published in the Journal suggest little if any impact. Meanwhile, new jargon has arisen in part explained by the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) large language models (LLMs) like Chat GPT, Claude and DeepSeek wherein use of certain words and phrases have become more common whilst others declined [3].

1 BACKGROUND Cellular analysis has the potential to enhance our understanding of pathogenetic processes. Mononuclear blood cells are especially important because they circulate throughout the body as a part of their crucial role in immune surveillance and inflammation and because they are readily available for analysis. Much immunological research over the past 30 years has involved characterizing changes of mononuclear cell-associated molecular expression levels in animal models and cell culture.
