War crime. It is one of the most serious allegations one can make against a soldier. The Munich native Daniel G. is thought to have killed at least two unarmed people in Gaza City on November 22, 2023, as a sniper in the Israeli armed forces. DER SPIEGEL heard of the allegations for the first time in October 2024. They came in the form of a video clip that Palestinian journalist Younis Tirawi posted on X. In the clip, Daniel G., who is now 25 years old, is incriminated by one of his comrades.
