Semiconductive optoelectronic refractive index sensors with on-chip electrical readout
We propose an integrated optoelectronic platform based on paired semiconducting nanostructures, which features a photonic-electronic co-design where the semiconducting nanostructures serve dual purposes: enabling refractive index (RI)-sensitive optical resonance while facilitating efficient near-field optoelectronic conversion through photoconducting effect.
The Impact of Freeze-Thaw Cycles on the Shear and Microstructural Characteristics of Compacted Silty Clay
1. Introduction The freeze–thaw (FT) phenomenon refers to the cyclic freezing and thawing of liquid water within a substance. It is commonly observed in regions with seasonally frozen soil [1,2,3]. With repeated FT cycles, the pore structure of soils undergoes significant transformations, compromising their mechanical behavior due to enhanced deterioration caused by the FT action. Consequently, this leads to substantial alterations in the bearing capacities of foundations [4,5,6,7,8,9].
Circadian pacemaker neurons of the Madeira cockroach are inhibited and activated by GABAA and GABAB receptors
GABA is the most abundant neurotransmitter in the circadian pacemaker circuits of mammals and insects. In the Madeira cockroach the accessory medulla (AME) in the brain′s optic lobes is the circadian clock that orchestrates rest‐activity rhythms in synchrony with light dark cycles. Three prominent GABAergic tracts connect the AME to termination sites of compound eye photoreceptors in the lamina and medulla.
