Thanks for being a member of City Paper! The prolific San Francisco-based playwright Lauren M. Gunderson is returning to D.C. this month for the premiere of her new play, A Room in the Castle, at Folger Theatre. A companion piece to William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, A Room in the Castle takes the focus off the Prince of Denmark and puts in on the women of Elsinore Castle.

Thanks for being a member of City Paper! It’s a Thursday night at Byrdland Records in Union Market. Bogart, Bogie to his friends, enters the store and closes the door swiftly behind him. The lights go out. He hears a woman shout, “Goddamn it!” from the backroom and immediately retreats back into the cold night under a dark sky. A few seconds later the lights come back on. Bogie (played by James J. Johnson) re-enters the shop.
