Ian Walker IG Group Holdings shares hit an all-time high after the online-trading company raised its guidance following a strong start to the year. Shares were up 11% at 17.46 pounds in early afternoon European trading, leading the FTSE 100 index risers. They are currently up 33% over the year to date. IG Group said first quarter organic revenue rose 19% to 331.2 million pounds ($445 million), while the net interest income fell 22% to 24.7 million pounds due mostly to lower interest rates.

By Ian Walker BP said it is selling a 65% stake in its Castrol lubricants business for $8 billion, as part of a plan to simplify the business following a review that started under former Chief Executive Officer Murray Auchincloss. The oil major said Wednesday that it was selling the shareholding to investment firm Stonepeak and that the two companies would form a joint venture in which it will own 35%. BP has an option to sell its stake in the joint venture after a two-year lockup period.
