The very definition of 'celebrity' is notability and fame. So we expect celebrities from every field - film, TV, music, and the Internet - to grab and hold our attention. But even for the most fame-whoring celebrity, the harsh glare of the spotlight isn't always a good thing. Getting arrested for drunk driving, egging somebody's house, or referring to yourself as a "totally bitchin' rock star from Mars" while burning every professional bridge you have are eye-rollingly questionable acts on their own. When acts like that are committed in the eyes of the public for all to see, those eye-rolls can turn into forehead slaps and even gaping mouths of disbelief.
