1 Introduction Desquamative gingivitis (DG) is a clinical condition in which patients present with severe erythema of gingivae and desquamation that can progress towards ulceration [1]. This condition belongs to a group of gingival diseases that are not induced by plaque and which, according to the current classification of periodontal diseases, are considered systemic pathologies [2].
