Electrically Tunable Spin‐Orbit Coupled Photonic Lattice in a Liquid Crystal Microcavity
1 Introduction The physics of microcavities turned out to be extremely rich within the last decades and directly related to the diversity of materials that can be embedded inside. These embedded materials can deeply modify the cavity mode properties, and conversely, the material response can be affected by the cavity, even beyond its optical properties.

Non-Hermitian Delocalization in a Two-Dimensional Photonic Quasicrystal
Theoretical and experimental studies suggest that both Hermitian and non-Hermitian quasicrystals show localization due to the fractal spectrum and to the transition to diffusive bands via exceptional points, respectively. Here, we present an experimental study of a dodecagonal photonic quasicrystal based on electromagnetically induced transparency in a Rb vapor cell. First, we observe the suppression of the wave packet expansion in the Hermitian case.

Addiction Training and Research: Striking Differences between France and Germany
Keywords: Teaching, Addictology, France, Germany, Research Bramness et al. 2023 [1] describe addiction training and related issues in 24 European countries. They report that France has far more university departments and full professorships in addiction medicine (23) than any other country in Europe. This striking difference in the infrastructure for training and education merits attention.
Soliton formation in an exciton-polariton condensate at a bound state in the continuum
Bound states in the continuum (BICs) are of special interest in photonics due to their theoretically infinite radiative lifetime. In this work, we take a specific example (a structure composed of GaN and a TiO2 photonic crystal slab), showcasing how the interactions affect BICs. The photonic BIC hosted by the photonic crystal slab couples with the excitons of GaN to form a polaritonic BIC with a negative mass.

Experimental demonstration of a two-dimensional hole gas in a GaN/AlGaN/GaN based heterostructure by optical spectroscopy
The polarization discontinuity across interfaces in polar nitride-based heterostructures can lead to the formation of two-dimensional electron and hole gases. In the past, the observation of these electron and hole gases has been achieved through various experimental techniques, most often by electronic measurements but occasionally by optical means. However, the occurrence of a two-dimensional hole gas has never been demonstrated optically in nitride-based heterostructures.
Editorial: How often can we get the right diagnosis after bone marrow transplant in patients with abnormal liver function tests?
Many hepatobiliary diseases are linked, directly or indirectly, to bone marrow transplantation (BMT).1 They can be related to immunosuppressive conditioning therapy (e.g., busulfan, cyclophosphamide, gemtuzumab ozogamicin, inotuzumab ozogamicin and total body irradiation), to the transplantation itself such as graft versus host disease (GVHD)2 or sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (SOS),3 to drug-induced liver injury (DILI) after transplantation (e.g., antifungals).4 Sepsis-associated liver...
Analog of Foucault precession in two-dimensional quantum harmonic oscillators with Berry curvature
The geometric phase plays a key role both in the rotation of the Foucault pendulum and in the anomalous Hall effect (AHE), where an accelerated wave packet shows a transverse motion induced by the Berry curvature. Here, we show that the motion of quantum particles described by a spin-orbit-coupling Hamiltonian showing nonzero Berry curvature and placed in a two-dimensional harmonic-oscillator potential in real space exhibits Foucault precession. The plane of the oscillations rotates with time.
Angle-dependent Andreev reflection at an interface with a polaritonic superfluid
We study analytically an analog of the Andreev reflection at a normal-superfluid interface. The polariton gapped superfluid region is achieved by quasiresonant optical pumping. The interacting polaritons are described with the driven-dissipative Gross-Pitaevskii equation. We find analytical formulas for the angles and amplitudes of the reflected and transmitted particles.
Could reasons for admission help to screen unhealthy alcohol use in emergency departments? A multicenter French study
1 Introduction Alcohol is the psychoactive substance most used in France and a major public health problem since it is the leading cause of hospitalization in France (1) and is responsible for approximately 41,000 premature deaths each year (2). While many users will not be harmed by their consumption during their life, many others will therefore have alcohol-induced or related complications that could lead to functional impairment and in some cases to death (3).
Non-Hermitian skin effect induced by Rashba-Dresselhaus spin-orbit coupling
Abstract One-dimensional (1D) chains with nonreciprocal tunneling realizing the non-Hermitian skin effect (NHSE) have attracted considerable interest in the last years, whereas their experimental realization in real space remains limited to a few examples. In this Letter, we propose a generic way of implementing nonreciprocity based on a combination of Rashba-Dresselhauss spin-orbit coupling, existing for electrons, cold atoms, and photons, and a lifetime imbalance between two spin components.
Manufacturing time estimator based on kinematic and thermal considerations: application to WAAM process - The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology
Abstract Metal additive manufacturing has been pointed as the answer to reduce manufacturing time and cost for aeronautic parts with a high buy to fly ratio. The manufacturability of a part by additive manufacturing depends on important indicators that would allow it to be cost effective. One key indicator is the manufacturing time, which is highly dependent on an important factor: the interlayer time.
Assessment of batch culture conditions for cyanobacterial propagation for a bioreactor in space
1 Introduction Edible cyanobacteria are promising organisms for life support systems in space. The MELiSSA loop, a life support system initiated by the European Space Agency (ESA) in 1988 (Lasseur et al., 2010) aims to recycle the wastes of space travelers (e.g., feces, urine and CO2) to produce new edible biomass, potable water and oxygen (O2) for space craft crews.

Design of a room-temperature topological exciton-polariton laser in a ${\mathrm{ZnO}\text{/}\mathrm{TiO}}_{2}$ photonic crystal slab
Abstract We propose theoretically a scheme to get a room-temperature two-dimensional topological exciton-polariton laser with propagating topological lasing modes. The structure uses guided modes in a photonic crystal slab. A ZnO layer provides strong excitonic resonances stable at room temperature. It is capped by a TiO2 layer pierced by a triangular lattice of air holes.

Weyl singularities in polaritonic multiterminal Josephson junctions
Abstract We study theoretically analog multiterminal Josephson junctions formed by gapped superfluids created upon resonant pumping of cavity exciton polaritons. We study the p-like bands of a five-terminal junction in the four-dimensional (4D) parameter space created by the superfluid phases acting as quasimomenta. We find 4/6 Weyl points in 3D subspaces with preserved/broken time-reversal symmetry. We link the real space topology (vortices) to the parameter space one (Weyl points).
Lasing in a ZnO waveguide: Clear evidence of polaritonic gain obtained by monitoring the continuous exciton screening
Abstract The coherent emission of exciton polaritons was proposed as a means of lowering the lasing threshold because it does not require the dissociation of excitons to obtain an electron-hole plasma, as in a classical semiconductor laser based on population inversion. In this work we propose a method to prove clearly the polaritonic nature of lasing by combining experimental measurements with a model accounting for the permittivity change as a function of the carrier density.

SurgAI3.8K: a labelled dataset of gynaecologic organs in laparoscopy, with application to automatic augmented reality surgical guidance
We focus on explaining the concepts underlying Artificial Intelligence (AI), using Uteraug, a laparoscopic surgery guidance application based on Augmented Reality (AR), to provide concrete examples. AI can be used to automatically interpret the surgical images. We are specifically interested in the tasks of uterus segmentation and uterus contouring in laparoscopic images. A major difficulty with AI methods is their requirement for a massive amount of annotated data.
The French version of the Gilles de la Tourette Syndrome Quality of Life Scale for adolescents (GTS-QOL-French-Ado): Adaptation and psychometric evaluation
Association between sociodemographic and clinical characteristics and GTS-QOL-French-Ado subscale scores No significant correlation was observed between GTS-QOL-French-Ado subscale scores and disease duration. A significant but very small correlation was found between the ‘Social’ subscale and age (r = 0.25). GTS-QOL-French-Ado subscale scores were not significantly different according to gender and comorbidities.

Quantum metric and wave packets at exceptional points in non-Hermitian systems
Abstract The usual concepts of topological physics, such as the Berry curvature, are not always relevant for non-Hermitian systems. We show that another object, the quantum metric, which often plays a secondary role in Hermitian systems, becomes a crucial quantity near exceptional points in non-Hermitian systems, where it diverges in a way that fully controls the description of wave-packet trajectories.

Proof of concept for biorefinery approach aiming at two bioenergy production compartments, hydrogen and biodiesel, coupled by an external membrane
A biorefinery is a facility that integrates biomass conversion processes and equipment to produce fuels, power and chemicals from biomass. This concept is applied here to hydrogen production by anaerobic fermentation. Its biological production is increasingly perceived as a potential pathway for developing renewable sources of energy, due to hydrogen's high energy content (142?kJ?g?1) and the absence of harmful emissions during utilization in a hydrogen fuel cell.
