Food is my passion, I was privileged to travel abroad with my husband, enjoying and exploring different cultures food, and this made me more aware of our rich culture and food here in South Africa. Old fashioned favourite recipes made by my mother and good old comfort food that most South Africans enjoy is just my passion. The good quality of our meat and our famous braai's is what inspires super delicious salads and what we all love. I passionately believe in my recipes for posterity.

Slow-Cooked Beef Bredie Recipe — South African Tomato & Potato Stew

Melt the butter in a casserole dish over medium heat. Add the beef or lamb, onions, garlic, and white wine. Cook for 5 minutes over medium heat, allowing the meat to sear and the aromatics to soften. Add the remaining ingredients — tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, and sugar — and stir to combine. Reduce the heat and let the bredie simmer gently for 90 minutes, until the meat is tender and the sauce has thickened. Remove from the heat and serve as is, or alongside your favourite side.

Frau Burri, wie viele Geflügelbetriebe schlachten bis dato ihre Hühner auf dem Betrieb? Genaue schweizweite Zahlen gibt es meines Wissens bisher nicht. Wir gehen aktuell davon aus, dass pro Jahr rund 30'000 Tiere – also vor allem Legehennen, Masthühner und Bruderhähne – auf den Höfen geschlachtet werden. Die Zahl der Betriebe, welche mobile Geflügelschlachtung nutzen, schätzen wir auf etwa 70, Tendenz steigend. Ist also ein Trend bei der Hofschlachtung von Hühnern erkennbar?
