The officers, formerly with the Albany Police Department, were charged with misuse of license plate data and violation of oath of office in a July 6 statement from the bureau.

July 8, 2026, 10:54 a.m. ET A federal judge in Georgia has blocked a subpoena from the Department of Justice that would have collected personal information from poll workers and volunteers from the 2020 election in Fulton County in what he called an "unreasonable" request. The grand jury subpoena was filed in April and was almost immediately met with resistance from Fulton County officials, who argued the request was overreaching and came from baseless claims of election fraud six years ago.

During a July 6 ceremony in the Oval Office, President Donald Trump said the $1,000 accounts would make millions of babies in America "very rich." As many as 6 million children already have active accounts, with children born between 2025 and 2028 getting $1,000 deposits from the federal government automatically.
