Iceland is set for a spell of unsettled weather as pressure systems to the south and north of the country cause strong easterly and north-easterly winds. According to the Icelandic Met Office, winds are expected to range between 5 and 13 metres per second across much of the country today, accompanied by periods of rain in some areas.

Over the last few months, we have been conducting a number of interviews with newcomers who have made Iceland their home. We have spoken to individuals from around the world about why they came here, what they found, and how they navigate life in a country that can feel both welcoming and unfamiliar. Together, their stories offer a portrait of a changing Iceland; one shaped not only by those born here, but also by those who arrived from elsewhere and decided to stay. Jessica Chambers.

The final week of May brings warmer weather and the start of the Listahátíð Festival, kicking off with the exhibitions by Björk and James Merry.
