1. Introduction Iron in the ionic state II/III is essential for living organisms. Iron is functionally vital in haemoglobin, myoglobin, haemenzymes, and many other cofactors involved in biological reactivity. In addition, iron is also one of the heavy metals commonly found in water. Excessive iron concentration in water affects the food chain, leading to the accumulation of heavy metals in organisms.
