In 2025, the former Department of Disabilities and Special Needs was merged with the Department of Mental Health and the Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services to create the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. That agency on Tuesday laid 47 people as part of a restructuring that cut 248 positions.
