A self-organizing developmental framework for the head direction ring attractor
2.1 Model overview and developmental stages We constructed a developmental rate-based model of the LMN–DTN head direction circuit. The model contains a recurrent excitatory LMN population (\(N_L=400\)), which carries the population representation of head direction, and two DTN conjunctive populations corresponding to clockwise (CW) and counterclockwise (CCW) velocity channels (each with \(N_D=400\)), which receive angular velocity signals and drive bump translation (Clark & Taube, 2012).
Source-based morphometry analyses yield associations between large-scale structural brain networks and psychopathic traits in incarcerated adolescents
ORIGINAL RESEARCH article Volume 17 - 2026 | doi: 10.3389/fpsyg.2026.1884761 Reviewed by ORIGINAL RESEARCH article Article metrics View details Abstract Studies commonly report that youth with elevated psychopathic traits exhibit deficits within limbic and paralimbic regions, including reduced gray matter volume (GMV) in the amygdala, orbitofrontal cortex (OFC), and temporal pole.
Putative α7-selective ligands interact with α9-containing nicotinic acetylcholine receptors and modulate immune functions of human mononuclear phagocytes
Abstract Introduction: Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) on immune cells are promising therapeutic targets for the treatment of inflammatory diseases and pain. Both α7 and α9* nAChRs (*denotes the potential presence of other nAChR subunits) have been implicated as mediators of the cholinergic anti-inflammatory system (CAS).
“I can’t just talk it. I have to live it”: the roles, needs, and recruitment of recovery home house managers
Abstract Introduction: Recovery homes are an increasingly important recovery support service for people with substance use disorders, yet limited research has examined the roles of house managers or how individuals are recruited into these positions. This study examines how house managers understand and enact their roles, how recovery home operators recruit for these positions, and how the demands and sustainability of the role are perceived in practice.
The No UPCODE Act: A Simple Start To A Complex Problem
Introduced with bipartisan sponsorship in March of 2025, the No Unreasonable Payments, Coding, or Diagnoses for the Elderly (No UPCODE) Act intends to address a major problem in Medicare payment policy—the ability of insurers in the Medicare Advantage (MA) program to extract additional payments by exploiting the program’s risk adjustment system.
Case Report: FIA plus venetoclax in a patient on hemodialysis
Introduction Optimal strategies for the safe administration of chemotherapy in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are not well-established, in part due to the exclusion of such patients from most clinical trials (1). At the present time, most recommendations lack strong clinical support and are based predominantly on consensus opinions rather than evidence-based guidelines.
The ATP-mediated cytokine release by macrophages is down-modulated by unconventional α9* nicotinic acetylcholine receptors
1 Introduction Monocytes and macrophages play an important role in the innate immune defense against a variety of pathogens (1). The pro-inflammatory cytokine interleukin (IL)-1β importantly contributes to the acute phase response, a systemic reaction to infections, autoimmune reactions, and tissue damage (2–4). Due to this potent, ubiquitous function, the synthesis and release of IL-1β must be strictly regulated and usually depends on two “danger signals”.

Risk Adjustment Reform: Navigating Ideas And Tradeoffs (Part 2)
In an individual insurance market, plan payments are risk-adjusted to limit distortions in plan offerings that arise from incentives to select favorable risks. With this objective in mind, risk adjustment is often reduced to a statistical goal—to maximize the fit of a predictive model to spending data—in an attempt to vary per-person payments across plans according to the expected costs of the populations they attract.

Magic formula to contain Donovan Mitchell. Will it change in Game 7? | Analysis Original
If you want to just repeat what the boxscore says and conclude that the Magic can’t allow guard Donovan Mitchell to score 50 points again if they hope to win Game 7 on Sunday, you could be right but also wrong. No team wants any individual opponent to score 50. But if in doing so the Cavs fail to break 100, you’ll take your chances. Other times you play the percentages, and that one outlier game sinks you. That almost came to fruition in Game 6.

Cavs lose center Jarrett Allen for Game 5 vs. Magic Original
Although the Cavs dominated the Magic in Games 1 and 2 at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, the pendulum may have swing back to the visitors’ direction before Game 5 tipoff Tuesday. Cavs center Jarrett Allen, who has averaged 17 points and 13.8 rebounds, is out with a rib contusion with the series tied at 2. What to look for going into pivotal Game 5 between Magic and Cavaliers — and beyond | Analysis Cleveland will move 6-11 forward Evan Mobley into Allen’s spot.
What to look for going into pivotal Game 5 between Magic-Cavs — and beyond | Analysis Original
The Magic, who looked hopeless after their first two games in Cleveland in this first-round playoff series, are right back where they started. Even. So who is under more pressure to win Tuesday at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse? The only way the Magic can win the series with the Cavs, now tied 2-2 after Saturday’s 112-89 triumph at Kia Center, is taking Game 5 or 7 (if necessary). The former is preferred by the No. 5 seed. “We both got pressure,” Jalen Suggs said about going to Cleveland.
Magic-Cavs isn’t just a series anymore. It’s starting to feel like a rivalry | Notebook Original
It’s about that time of year in a first-round playoff series. The Magic and Cavs have played each other eight times. They’ll meet at least two more after Saturday’s 112-89 victory at Kia Center drew the series even at 2. They’re starting to tire of each other. In a good way that results in hard-nosed basketball. “The competitiveness comes out [normally] as the series goes on,” said Wagner, who scored 12 of his game-high 34 points in a 37-10 third quarter for Orlando.
What’s wrong with Magic’s offense vs. Cavs? Plenty. And here are some fixes | Analysis Original
A call came from a big Magic fan, and longtime friend and best man at my wedding: “Why is Gary Harris still playing? He gets me nothing.” While true — Harris went scoreless in 33 minutes in Game 1 vs. Cleveland — the problems with this offense can’t be explained with plus-minus. This isn’t Keyshawn Johnson doing a poetry slam of the boxscore on FS1’s Undisputed. There’s levels to this. Magic’s shooting woes pronounced in postseason vs. Cavs Decision-making.
What it will take for Magic to advance out of first round | Analysis
The season series was 2-2. It’s a Nos. 4-vs.-5 matchup between the Cavaliers and the Magic that begins Saturday. It’s a toss-up, right? On paper, yes, but the postseason is a different beast. There isn’t much that separates teams at this level. Winning and losing have as much to do with the nuances and the games within the games. Predictability is the enemy of Magic coach Jamahl Mosley and Cleveland’s J.B. Bickerstaff.

The Greenback Mile
While many Americans were nursing a New Year's holiday hangover the U.S. national debt crossed the $34 trillion threshold. Worse, our government's propensity for writing checks against an overdrawn bank account will add an additional one trillion dollars to that debt about every one hundred days with the debt on track to climb past the $35 trillion mark in April, 2024.
How rookie Mitchell Chaffee pushed his way into Lightning’s lineup
TAMPA — The Lightning took a chance on signing forward Mitchell Chaffee to a one-year, two-way contract during the beginning of free agency last summer. Chaffee had played just 10 games the previous season for Minnesota’s AHL team before a serious knee injury sidelined him. When he reported to Lightning training camp in September, he still wasn’t 100%, but the team’s trust that the 26-year-old would return to form has paid off.

New Rays prospect rediscovered love for baseball in a most unusual way | Commentary
ST. PETERSBURG — Like any retired ballplayer, the game still pulled at Andrew Lindsey. Not the crowds or accomplishments, but the sandlot showdowns with the boys from the neighborhood. Nine innings in the morning, home for a quick lunch, and then back outside for another game in the afternoon. Those carefree days were long gone, but he would still finish his shift at the public works department in Waverly, Tenn., and drive by the old ballfield from his youth.

The Duality of Paul in Pier Paolo Pasolini’s Saint Paul: The Katechon and the Collapse of a Film Project
1. Introduction Pasolini’s cinema held the ability to shock audiences into the theater, and one could justly conjecture that this outcome pleased producers and studios that brought his vision to fruition. Pasolini proposed only one film that remains unrealized due to controversial substance, although he never completed other works such as Porno-Teo-Kolossal because of his death, La Nebbiosa, commissioned by Renzo Tresoldi, and The Savage Father.
