Effects of Low Battery Warning Sound Types and Driver Extraversion on Range Anxiety in Pure Electric Vehicles
Abstract This study investigates how driver extraversion and low-battery alert sounds (alarm vs. naturalistic) affect range anxiety. Eighty drivers were divided into high and low extraversion groups. During simulated driving, participants received alerts at 10% and 5% battery. Data were collected on eye movements, pupil responses, Primary Appraisal Secondary Appraisal (PASA) cognitive appraisals, energy-saving button reaction times, and System Usability Scale (SUS) ratings.
Heat-triggered phospholipid flipping stabilizes plasma membrane fluidity
Abstract Cells must rapidly counteract heat stress-induced hyperfluidization of the plasma membrane to prevent membrane damage1,2, yet how cells achieve such early protection remains unknown. Here we show that in rice (Oryza sativa), the P4-ATPase OsALA5, together with its β-subunit OsALIS2, mediates a heat-responsive flipping of saturated phosphatidylcholines that rapidly stabilizes plasma membrane fluidity.
Labile iron starvation in embryonic Kupffer cells aggravates MASH via mitochondrial failure and macrophage dysfunction
Abstract Metabolically-dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is characterised by embryonic Kupffer cell (emKC) loss and proinflammatory macrophage infiltration. While iron dysregulation is implicated in MASH, the role of labile iron (Fe2 + ) in mediating emKC survival and function remains unknown. In human and mouse MASLD/MASH livers, emKCs exhibit repressed iron metabolism, reduced labile iron pools, and mitochondrial dysfunction.
