Clinical Outcomes of Bone-Anchored Versus Socket-Suspended Prostheses in Individuals With Transfemoral Amputation: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Two-Arm Comparative Studies
1 Introduction It is estimated that there are 40 million amputees worldwide, with approximately 36 million (90%) having lower-limb amputations [1]. About 26% of these are individuals with transfemoral amputation (TFA), which is associated with greater functional impairment due to the loss of the natural knee joint, resulting in increased biomechanical demands and reduced mobility [1].
Freely (Un)Equal
Matteo. 2026. “Freely (Un)Equal,” Economics of Transition and Institutional Change: 1–45. Migheli, https://doi.org/10.1111/ecot.70035. 1 Introduction Free and competitive markets maximise social welfare by maximising agents' satisfaction. Discrimination may occur in such markets, but only insofar as it reflects differences in individual characteristics that are objectively measurable and economically relevant.
The Fate of Deep Permafrost Carbon in Northern High Latitudes in the 21st Century: A Process‐Based Modeling Analysis
1 Introduction Permafrost soil contains large amounts of organic carbon (1,014 Pg for 0–3 m depth; Mishra et al., 2021) that is vulnerable to climate warming and may accelerate climate change through greenhouse gas emission (Schuur et al., 2015, 2022).
High-Strength PVA/Cellulosic hydrogels with Acid/Base and thermo dual-responsive fluorescence
Fluorescent polymer hydrogels (FPHs) are three-dimensional cross-linked hydrophilic polymer networks, which make them promising candidates in the field of luminescent materials [1]. Due to their combination of hydrogel and fluorescent materials, FPHs exhibit inherent advantages, including flexibility and tunable fluorescence.

Selective valorization of lignin to C8 phenols over atomically dispersed Ni on basic AlN
Lignocellulose, a renewable biomass feedstock, holds great potential for the production of chemicals and fuels [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7], [8]. Lignin, constituting 15 % to 40 % of lignocellulose, is the most abundant renewable aromatic compound in nature, making it an ideal candidate for the production of aromatic monomers.

Nonreciprocal charge and spin transport induced by non-Hermitian skin effect in mesoscopic heterojunctions
Abstract The pursuit of the non-Hermitian skin effect (NHSE) in various physical systems is of great research interest. Compared with recent progress in nonelectronic systems, the implementation of the NHSE in condensed matter physics remains elusive. Here, we show that the NHSE can be engineered in the mesoscopic heterojunctions (system plus reservoir) in which electrons in two channels of the system moving towards each other have asymmetric coupling to those of the reservoir.
The Associations of Dietary Copper with Incident Dementia: The Atherosclerosis Risks in Community (ARIC) Study | Environmental Health Perspectives | Vol. 2020, No. 1
Environmental Health Perspectives is pleased to present this abstract on behalf of the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology (ISEE). This abstract was presented at an ISEE annual meeting and has not been peer reviewed. The Associations of Dietary Copper with Incident Dementia: The Atherosclerosis Risks in Community (ARIC) Study Abstract Background/Aim: Copper may be involved in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis.
Association of sepsis with risk for osteoporosis: a population-based cohort study
Abstract Summary We conducted a large, retrospective cohort study using data from Taiwan’s National Health Insurance Research Database to evaluate whether the risk of developing osteoporosis is associated with sepsis. Our study found that adults younger than 65 years with sepsis had a significantly increased risk of developing osteoporosis. Introduction There have been limited studies regarding the osteoporosis risk associated with sepsis.

Activation of the cannabinoid receptor 2 increases renal perfusion
Acute kidney injury (AKI) is defined by an immediate loss in renal function due to a number of factors, including the onset of sepsis, exposure to nephrotoxins, and organ hypoperfusion due to ischemia (2). Ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is one of the most common forms of AKI and involves a complex series of cellular changes that can lead to lethal tubular damage and loss of renal function in the most severe cases.

Aortic pulse-wave velocity (aPWV) is a measure of large artery stiffness, and a predictor of cardiovascular disease; however, the role of aPWV in coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD) and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is not well characterized.
The Personal Genome Project Canada: findings from whole genome sequences of the inaugural 56 participants
AbstractBACKGROUND: The Personal Genome Project Canada is a comprehensive public data resource that integrates whole genome sequencing data and health information. We describe genomic variation identified in the initial recruitment cohort of 56 volunteers.METHODS: Volunteers were screened for eligibility and provided informed consent for open data sharing. Using blood DNA, we performed whole genome sequencing and identified all possible classes of DNA variants.
43P Integrated analysis of genome-wide DNA methylation and gene expression profiles identifies potential novel biomarkers of rectal cancer
43P Integrated analysis of genome-wide DNA methylation and gene expression profiles identifies potential novel biomarkers of rectal cancer Background: DNA methylation was regarded as the promising biomarker for rectal cancer diagnosis. However, the optimal methylation biomarkers with ideal diagnostic performance for rectal cancer are still limited. This study was aimed to identify new molecular markers for rectal cancer. Methods: We mapped DNA …
