Retarding moisture-induced chemical degradation of Yttrium Tellurides by tailoring grain boundary chemistry
Abstract Grain boundary engineering has been extensively applied to improve thermoelectric performance, but its potential to enhance chemical stability remains underexplored. Here, we demonstrate that modifying grain boundary chemistry can effectively suppress the chemical degradation of Y2Te3 under ambient conditions.
Grain Boundary Engineering Enhances the Thermoelectric Properties of Y2Te3
The performance of thermoelectric materials is typically assessed using the dimensionless figure of merit, zT. Increasing zT is challenging due to the intricate relationships between electrical and thermal transport properties. This study focuses on Y2Te3-based thermoelectric materials, which are predicted to be promising for high-temperature applications due to their inherently low lattice thermal conductivity.

Council Post: Why The Growth Of A Second Market For Industrial Assets Is Critical For The Supply Chain
Jamil Rahman, Founder & CEO, Aucto Inc getty The global supply chain is the center of the world's economy. It coordinates the delivery of goods manufactured worldwide to the doorsteps of businesses and consumers who depend on them for their day-to-day activities. Yet, like the vital processes of a living organism, the supply chain is often invisible when it is healthy, humming along in the background as it moves billions of dollars in goods around the globe.
Grain Boundary Interfaces Controlled by Reduced Graphene Oxide in Nonstoichiometric SrTiO3-δ Thermoelectrics
Abstract Point defect or doping in Strontium titanium oxide (STO) largely determines the thermoelectric (TE) properties. So far, insufficient knowledge exists on the impact of double Schottky barrier on the TE performance. Herein, we report a drastic effect of double Schottky barrier on the TE performance in undoped STO.
50 Years Later, a Championship Legacy Still Resonates
Justin Rattner '70 | Sun File Photo Cornell's first championship came 50 years ago, and the team today hopes to honor the team's legacy with a championship in 2017. March 15, 2017 Men's Hockey By Jamil Rahman | March 15, 2017 Just moments after the Cornell men’s hockey team clinched its spot in the ECAC semifinals in Lake Placid, the senior class gave the Lynah Faithful one last salute on home ice.
Without Florida Classic, No. 5 Men’s Hockey Welcomes No. 20 Canisius to Begin Second Half of Season
After nearly four weeks without action, an eager Cornell men’s hockey team is gearing up to take on its first opponent since the holiday break with non-conference opponent Canisius coming to Lynah Rink this Saturday. Despite no recent games, the squad had a relatively short break from the ice. Cornell came back as a group in Ithaca the night after Christmas, spending only seven days away from the rink as a team.
Resiliency Building for No. 7 Men’s Hockey in Slew of Tough Games
Any team will tell you that every season is full of its ups and downs, and Cornell men’s hockey — seemingly untouchable in its first seven games — appears to be facing a slope as of late, again evident in Saturday’s 4-3 win over Boston University at Madison Square Garden. It started with a 4-0 crushing loss to Clarkson at home. Then Niagara came to town just three days later, and while Cornell came away with a victory, it took a four-goal third-period effort to do so.
No. 7 Men’s Hockey Seeking 1st Madison Square Garden Victory Over Boston University
Three days before Cornell men’s hockey captain Alex Rauter was born in 1994, the New York Rangers came away with a 3-2 Game 7 victory over the Vancouver Canucks to win the Stanley Cup, breaking the club’s 54-year streak without a championship. Rauter’s father, a “crazy” die-hard Rangers fan living about 20 miles from New York City in New Jersey at the time, decided with his wife to name their son Alex after Alexei Kovalev, a young star for the Rangers at the time.
No. 6/5 Men’s Hockey Falls Flat to No. 8/7 Clarkson, Drops 1st Game of Season
This post will be updated. For a Cornell men’s hockey team that entered Saturday’s tilt on a hot streak, it was never able to find its groove against Clarkson — the only other remaining undefeated team in ECAC play — which was visiting Ithaca for the first time since last season’s ECAC quarterfinals series at Lynah. The Golden Knights scored twice in each of the first two periods, manhandling Cornell for the 4-0 win to end the Red’s undefeated start to the year.
Freshman Barron Making History Amid Hot Start to Collegiate Career
It was the shot heard around Ithaca — a goal by junior defenseman Alec McCrea with 1.4 seconds left propelled the Cornell men’s hockey team to its first win over Harvard in the last seven matchups and sent the Red to its best start in nearly half a century. While McCrea’s name will forever be synonymous with the dramatic win, it would not have happened without the tenacity and poise of a rookie teammate in the highest of pressure situations.
Around the Ivy League: Underdogs Continue to Find Success
On Saturday, Cornell miraculously topped preseason Ivy favorite Harvard for the first time in 12 years to come away with its first victory of the season. But the Red wasn’t the only underdog to find success this weekend, as Dartmouth and Columbia, who finished fifth and seventh in the Ivy League preseason poll, respectively, now find themselves at the top of the League standings with 4-0 overall records.
3 Keys to a Football Win Over Harvard
Harvard is a perennial powerhouse in the Ivy League, so it was a shock when the Crimson was one of only two teams in the league to open the 2017 season with a 17-10 loss at Rhode Island. But Harvard has been on a roll since then, with wins over Brown 45-28 and Georgetown 41-2.For a Cornell team that’s still searching for its first victory of the season, welcoming Harvard to Schoellkopf will be no small task.
Heading Into Home Opener vs. Colgate, Football Knows ‘We’ve Got to Get Better at Execution’
While the Cornell football team has suffered two losses to open the season, the team has had two distinct reactions following them. After playing a strong Delaware team, the message surrounding Cornell (0-2, 0-1 Ivy) was relatively positive — other than cleaning up a few miscues, primarily turnovers, the takeaway was to stick to business as usual and things would get off the ground. But the following Yale game was eye-opening for the Red.

Football Looks to Rebound from First Loss in League Opener at Yale
It definitely wasn’t the way to open the 130th season for the Cornell football team — five turnovers in the first half and heading into halftime down 27-0, ultimately dooming the team to a 41-14 thrashing by Delaware this past weekend. But for a team that has high expectations for itself this season, the Red (0-1) is certainly not losing conviction in itself any time soon.“There’s no bad blood, we’re not discouraged at all, we’re just working on cleaning up this week,” said junior running back...

Make-A-Wish Charity Game Is Personal for Field Hockey’s Conklin

However, this sense of eager expectation quickly soured. Less than a month after the arrival of newborn Kate, the family’s pediatrician delivered some unwelcoming news.

Breaking Down the 2017-18 Men’s Hockey Schedule
With the 2017-18 Cornell men’s hockey schedule now clear, so too have the challenges between the team and a second consecutive trip to both the ECAC and NCAA tournaments. As customary, Cornell will play twice against each conference opponent, once at home and once on the road. But as opposed to the 2016-17 season, the Red will have the luxury of trying to get out to a fast start playing a majority of the first half within the confines of Lynah.
