The provincial round robins came to their respective ends over the weekend with the final six in the hunt for the Liam MacCarthy confirmed. Incredibly, none of Waterford, Kilkenny or Tipperary will hurl into the summer with each coming up short over the past six weeks. Kilkenny had reached the last four each year since 2019 while Tipperary came into the season as defending champions.

A battle of the best this weekend but makes a combined XV? Every year there is a fixture in the round robin that stands out among the rest. For the last few years it was inevitably Limerick’s clash with Clare. Last year they would meet in a third successive Munster decider but the dream All-Ireland matchup never materialised with Cork instead taking Limerick’s place. Interestingly, the Rebels and the Banner were then paired together in the first round of this year’s championship.
