But it is one of the most popular recreational drugs among those under 24, so she is meeting some of the long-term users who are living with the consequences. From learning about “ket bladder” (passing blood or parts of an eroding bladder in the urine) to hearing how much the drug helps them to “dissociate”, the conversations are eye-opening and often heartbreaking.

Being Muslim After 9/11 review – other journalists wouldn’t dare to air this
In 2024, the journalist Mobeen Azhar made a documentary called Small Town, Big Riot that ought to have been highly influential, but, in our atomised modern media landscape, wasn’t. He deconstructed how anti-immigrant racists, radicalised by online propaganda, lies and hearsay, end up on the streets perpetrating shocking violence and rioting against a largely imaginary foe. Azhar’s new film tackles a wider, thornier problem and is less satisfying as a result.

TV tonight: Richard Ayoade and Hannah Waddingham’s cartoon comedy
|
11.40pm, BBC Three This starry-voiced adult cartoon by Rick and Morty creator Dan Harmon quietly dropped on iPlayer last month. Set in ancient Greece, it follows benevolent Tyrannis (Richard Ayoade) – the mortal son of vain goddess Deliria (Hannah Waddingham) and husband Shlub (Matt Berry) – who uses modern ideas as he rules Krapopolis. Served up in fun 20-minute bites, this six-episode bill will race by.

TV tonight: Sienna Miller’s slick and seriously nasty divorce drama
9pm, Sky Atlantic“If they play dirty,” says Nina Sosanya’s lawyer, Beatrice Ubosi, “we will be total and utter filth.” Let’s hope that’s a promise – this slick, stylish divorce drama could get seriously nasty. Sienna Miller’s film star Carla has her beady eyes on the fortune of tech slimeball Morgan (Dominic West). But as befits an extremely rich man, he has a very expensive and ruthless legal team. Expect fireworks.
TV tonight: a new mismatched detective duo for crime drama fans
Winter 9pm, ITV1 If you have room for one more mismatched detective duo in your life, this new drama introduces Dr Ethan Winter (Richard Armitage), an unbearably smug forensic pathologist who can “read a body like a book”, and DI Lauren Bell (Annabel Scholey), a diligent, frosty cop. Blue Lights review – TV’s most thrilling cop show turns up the heat
Blue Lights has always been a very modern cop drama. Its tales of everyday callouts, fractious office relationships and complex long-term efforts to smash organised crime have all played out against the backdrop of post-Troubles Belfast, where lingering sectarian resentments make enforcing the law even harder than it is in the rest of austerity-era UK.

Michael Palin in the Philippines review – who else could cause such a weird moment with the president?
There is a moment in episode one of Michael Palin in the Philippines where our host surveys a group of children swimming gaily in the harbour of Pagasa, a tiny island in what western atlases traditionally refer to as the South China Sea. “Oh, if only I were young again,” he muses. “Eighty-one would do!” Palin is now 83 and into his fifth decade of travel presenting, which is longer than he spent as an active member of Monty Python. Naturally, he is not a dynamic or imposing presence on screen.

TV tonight: Blue Lights returns – and it’s as topical and thrilling as ever
9pm, BBC OneThe Belfast police drama doesn’t mess around. Within the first half hour of the fourth series, we’re treated to an intense set piece that touches on police cuts, the migration crisis, livestreaming culture and the changing meaning of nationalism – all while still working brilliantly as a thriller. Blue Lights’ judgment of the zeitgeist remains impeccable, but its personal touches give it emotional weight, too. Superb.
TV tonight: Lesley Manville returns as a murder-solving book editor
|
Marble Hall Murders 9.35pm, BBC One The amateur sleuth is a well-worn archetype but Lesley Manville inhabits it more persuasively than most in this third and final adaptation of Anthony Horowitz's mystery trilogy. Manville is book editor (and side-hustle detective) Susan Ryeland, who is persuaded to help whip a troubled young author's manuscript into shape. She is drawn into a murder case that spans multiple timelines and circles enticingly back to a tiny coven of occult-obsessed children.

TV tonight: Channel 5’s revival of Play for Today goes wild
|
9pm, Channel 5 Another series of Channel 5’s revival of the famed Play for Today strand begins with this comedy drama starring Amit Shah,Joel Fry and Daniel Mays as three university mates whose annual wild camping trip is the setting for midge attacks, lost phones and festering grievances. The characters are broadly drawn and their mishaps predictable, but it’s still refreshing in these tough TV times to see a channel maintaining a platform for standalone original drama.

TV tonight: Inside the UK's response to alleged Israeli war crimes in Gaza
Dispatches: Britain's Gaza Secrets Exposed 11.05pm, Channel 4 With Donald Trump cheerleading for a far-right Israeli government, the horror in Gaza has represented an extreme moral and political hazard for successive UK governments since the Hamas attacks of October 2023. However, they've played a difficult hand pretty badly. This film gains access to internal Whitehall documents to offer an insight into Britain's compromised response to alleged Israeli war crimes.

The Real Rooneys review – at least Wayne and Coleen’s reality show proves they can laugh at themselves
‘There are two obvious problems here, the first being that the Rooneys’ lives feel like fiction: he was a generational sporting talent, a one-in-a-million player whose success has bought him and Coleen a ridiculous Cheshire mansion with a cinema, indoor pool and adjacent football pitch. To get back to the road you have to drive over a bridge across a lake.
Brothers review – Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey's super-fun sitcom about the chance they're related
The cheek! The indulgence! The privilege! Did anyone, anywhere in 2026, look up from news of a world in flames and say, what we really need now is a meta-comedy where two actors play gently self-satirising fictional versions of themselves? They did not, and yet here are Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
TV tonight: Nigella enters the Bake Off tent – and causes quite a stir
|
The Great British Bake Off 8pm, Channel 4 Nigella Lawson enters the tent as a new judge and all it takes is her saying “sumptuous” to crack Noel Fielding: “I think I might be pregnant.” Chocolate stout cake is the first task for the eager batch of bakers – with one of them daring to put a twist on Nigella's own recipe. They then need to recreate a coffee and walnut cake from a picture, before doing their self-portrait cake showstoppers. You will gasp in horror at least twice.

TV tonight: romance scams to make your blood boil Original
9pm, BBC Two Given that romance scam documentaries have become a regular fixture in the schedules, you would think they would have lost the power to shock. But blood will boil in viewers of the first of this three-parter, where three women in middle life recall what happened when they were lonely and started talking to a handsome man online. It turned out, of course, that the same man was dating them all – and he was finding new ways of getting them to send him money.
Slow Horses season six review – it gets harder to enjoy Gary Oldman's spy thriller every year
This is a new Slow Horses: season six is the first not to be guided by its creator, Will Smith, a writer whose previous work on The Thick of It and Veep explained why this espionage saga had an unusually sharp comic tongue. The absence of Smith's drollery is discernible in a more straight-faced new story, but the bigger problem is one of a creative work naturally eroding over time. Slow Horses is now old. It's always been a difficult, delicate proposition.

TV tonight: a jaw-dropping new end-of-the-world reality show Original
|
9pm, Channel 4 Survivor meets The Last of Us in this chilling reality show which dumps two teams of ordinary people in a real ghost town. The groups scavenge for food, find shelter and ultimately aim to survive – but at first they are unaware of each other's existence. As with all juicy social experiments, the real entertainment starts as dynamics between such different characters begin to form and squabbles erupt into arguments (see jovial content creator Steven and alpha beef farmer Scott).
