There's nothing inherently impressive about a crossover at this point. Everyone does them now, and arguably everyone does them way too much. If you're going to do a crossover, it needs to be able to stand on more than just the concept. Shinobi seems to understand this. Always the trendsetter, Shinobi did crossovers before they were cool (or legal). Now in the age of crossover saturation, Shinobi does crossovers where the crossover itself barely matters.

Don't skip Mega Man Star Force. I know you were planning to. Everyone always does. That has more or less been the story of Star Force in the public eye—the series that people skipped, and as a result, never really got its due. Well, I'm not gonna take it anymore. With the release of Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, I simply can't. These are great games that deserve to be played. They deserve recognition.

Normally, I’d be first in line to defend a beat-em-up’s honor on a gameplay level. Beat-em-ups tend to be severely misunderstood and disparaged in the wider gaming discourse, so I try to explain their depth whenever I cover one. Yet even as the #1 beat-em-up apologist, I can acknowledge that the masses tend to enjoy these games for very different reasons than I do.
