(KEYC) - The Minnesota Fishing Opener—one of the state’s biggest outdoor traditions—is this Saturday, May 9th, marking the start of walleye and northern pike season across Minnesota. Here in Southern Minnesota, the Minnesota DNR expects good walleye numbers and with warmer conditions, they’re hoping for a hot bite to start the year. “In Southern Minnesota, a lot of people think fishing, I got to head north. But we have excellent fishing opportunities in the southern part of the state.
