The Lakers got an indirect win over the Celtics on Monday. Sandro Mamukelashvili’s Georgia side pieced together a big second half to overcome a double-digit deficit and knock off Portugal and Celtics big man Neemias Queta, 98-90. Any win over Boston is a good win. Portugal jumped ahead in the first half and led for most of the opening two quarters, opening up an 11-point lead late in the first.

It's no question that the Lakers made a big gamble this summer. Gone is not just LeBron James, but the entire starting five for most of the team's series against the Rockets, which they won in six games. In are not just a lot of fresh faces, but a lot of unexpected names. The Lakers identified players who can fit around Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves and within head coach JJ Redick's system. The Lakers have a high floor because of their superstar, but it's still a risky proposition.

Sandro Mamukelashvili shines as Georgia routs Montenegro in FIBA World Cup qualifying Original

Sandro Mamukelashvili and Georgia opened up the second round of FIBA World Cup qualifying on Friday with a thoroughly dominant win over Montenegro, 101-74. Georgia never trailed in the game and led for all but 13 seconds of the contest. Mamu was at the center of much of that great play, finishing with 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists. He finished the game shooting 6-13 from the field and 4-8 from the 3-point line.
