The MTSU Board of Trustees released a timeline for the university’s presidential search process following its quarterly board meeting on Tuesday. Current president Sidney A. McPhee announced in March that he will step down at the end of his contract in December, following 25 years in the role. The board will soon sign a contract with an executive recruitment firm to aid it in the process of choosing McPhee’s successor. “We’re going to have the correct process.

This is a story that ran in the Sidelines 100th Anniversary Edition newspaper, a print edition meant to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Sidelines. Leon Alligood was the faculty adviser for MTSU Sidelines from 2012 to 2023. Alligood graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in journalism in 1975 and had a 40 year career in journalism with 11 years at the Nashville Banner followed by a decade at the Tennessean.
