James Domizio

Loosely related anecdotes about a YouTube-obsessed-kid-turned-adult-with-a-YouTube-channel. In 2010, when I was eleven, my friend showed me a video by James Rolfe, the Angry Video Game Nerd. Rolfe was a nerdy white dude with brown hair and glasses, just like me. He made well-written and well-edited YouTube videos about retro games and sometimes classic film. My friend was also a YouTuber, albeit a less popular one. I looked up to them both. I’ve always been late to things.

Pikachu has pretty bad stats, except for his exceptional speed. Welcome back, Maxim Afinogenov! There are currently 1,025 Pokémon and 933 active NHL players. Those numbers are much closer than I thought they would be. I grew up in the early 2000s — too young to remember 9/11 and too old to have played “Five Nights at Freddy’s.” Though I was more of a PlayStation 2 kid, I played Pokémon at friends’ houses.

Howdy-and-a-half! It’s been almost two years since I last wrote one of these, and what a time its been! From a productivity standpoint, 2024 was a bad year for me, but this year was the exact opposite. Despite the bad stuff — not having a car; Trump being president; a few tough losses — I spent 2025 feverishly working on a number of passion projects, most of which I was able to finish and publish before the end of the year.
