I often admire Gideon Levy’s columns and their forthright, outspoken courage. I can also see how his countless experiences and the countless events on which he has reported with such justified outrage, and seemed to have had no effect, have perhaps even made him bitter. And even this is actually understandable. But I found his recent op-ed, I Feel No Sympathy for the Settlers, humanly incomprehensible and - to the deepest possible extent - objectionable.

He was born on Aug. 2, 1939, in Watertown, to Andrew and Alice (Niebler) Adler. Jim served in the United States Air Force in 1958 and then the U.S. Air Force Reserves until July of 1963. He married Roberta Schultz on Sept. 21, 1961, in LaGrange. He worked for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department for 26 years. Following his retirement at the sheriff’s department, he worked for the Jefferson City Police Department for five years and drove cars for the Auto Auction.
