Summer in Chicago is always a bit tempestuous, but this year has been one for the books with flooding, rainstorms, parching heat, and tornadoes. Lollapalooza, the Midwest’s ultimate four-day music fest, felt like a microcosm of the Summer’s volatility in a single weekend. Thursday kicked off with sweltering heat, flipped into mist on Friday, then after an onslaught of overnight rain, Saturday and Sunday felt like wading through a bog.

The Obama Presidential Center opened its doors to the public in Jackson Park over the weekend of June 19-21, after hosting a private opening ceremony streamed to the public and at Midway Plaisance Park. The weekend included events in celebration of Juneteenth and Father’s Day with performances on the campus’ plaza and a morning walk hosted by Peace Runners 773.

On March 1, the Chicago Chinatown Community Foundation hosted its annual Lunar New Year Parade, celebrating the Year of the Horse and the 114th anniversary of Chicago’s Chinatown on a sunny and windy Sunday afternoon. Traditional lion and dragon dancing flowed through South Wentworth Avenue and West Cermak Road alongside marching bands, floats, dancers, and members of local schools and organizations.
