The newly renamed Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (“BIST”) is currently consulting on changes to the UK’s opt-out collective actions, regulatory appeals and competition enforcement regimes. The consultation, titled “Swifter and simpler competition redress, regulatory appeals and competition enforcement”, is open until 26 September 2026.

A trickle of gradual developments in the UK’s post-Brexit subsidy control regime has turned into something of a summer downpour, with the first decision handed down by the Court of Appeal, two new decisions from the Competition Appeal Tribunal (“CAT”) and a report from the Competition and Markets Authority (“CMA”).

In an increasingly globalised world, our upcoming 2026 Energy Academy will focus on the theme of engaging in international markets where we will explore developing strategies to manage cross border transactions, regulatory compliances, negotiating contracts, as well as awareness of global and local challenges. There will also be an opportunity to network with fellow energy sector professionals.
