To truly comprehend the collector heat around Japanese cars, make a trip, as I did recently, to Port Newark, whose dockside parking lots are crowded with Japan-born Supras, Skylines, and NSXs waiting to clear customs. The volume attests to steady demand—albeit blunted of late by tariff-related confusion—for Japanese cars that were never sold in the U.S., or are sportier or more coveted versions of what arrived stateside.
