Hot and humid weather going out with a small bang in the area as a cold front triggers scattered thunderstorms. The front will move through overnight with a fresh feel to Friday’s weather. For tonight, the cold front will slowly push southeast. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to bubble up along the cold front, clearing out of the area by sunrise. A few of the storms, especially earlier in the evening, could become severe with some hail or wind.

The early summer swelter will continue for one more day before going out with a bang Thursday evening. For tonight, we’ll enjoy another warm and quiet night. Severe storms near I-70 might build just far enough south to clip areas from Versailles to Rolla, but they should be weaker by then if they do. The timing would be near or after midnight for this to happen. Thursday will start with balmy breezes and quiet weather.
