What was your first job as a journalist?

Writing for the K-State Collegian in college.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

For me, it means educating and inspiring -- helping people make sense of food and nutrition. It can sometimes be conflicting/confusing.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I was team yearbook, served as photography editor.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Read, read, read. Closely follow other writers that are covering the topics you want to cover. See how they approach a topic.
