2006 graduated from SAIT print media journalism program. From St. Paul, Alberta, returned to my hometown straight out of college and have been working with the St. Paul Journal (more recently known as Lakeland This Week/LakelandToday) for over 15 years. Currently the news editor for Lakeland This Week, which reaches from Lac La Biche, to Bonnyville, and then to St. Paul/Elk Point.

COLD LAKE - Imperial Oil has confirmed there was a release of "bitumen emulsion" from a pipeline within the Imperial Oil lease area near Cold Lake, earlier this month. The incident took place on April 9. Bitumen emulsion includes bitumen and produced water. "Imperial teams responded immediately, the release was stopped and was contained," reads a statement provided to Lakeland This Week from Lisa Schmidt, media relations with Imperial.

Weather and road conditions are considered to be factors in a double fatal motor vehicle collision that took place early in the morning on April 7, near Redwater. Redwater RCMP responded to the vehicle collision, which had been reported by another motorist at about 5:41 a.m. on Tuesday morning, on Highway 28. "Two SUV’s travelling on Highway 28 collided head-on near Range Road 223, west of Redwater.

Spring snowstorm expected to move through Athabasca Monday

Significant snowfall is expected in Athabasca and across the Lakeland region. A spring snowstorm is expected to spread west to east from Peace River this morning (April 6) to Cold Lake this evening, according to Environment Canada. "Snow will be heaviest tonight or Tuesday morning. The snow will end Tuesday afternoon or Tuesday night." Snowfall amounts are expected to be variable, but generally near 15 cm, except near the BC border where about 20 cm is expected. "Travel will likely be challenging.
