Edward Waters’ thrilling win over the then-defending CIAA champion Virginia Union was easily the biggest upset of the 2025 season. After a sloppy opening quarter, during which each team committed turnovers on their opening offensive drives, the game began to pick up steam as it shifted to the next period.

HBCU stars contributed to New York Knicks championship history

For the first time in 53 years, the New York Knicks are NBA champions, claiming the Larry O’Brien trophy after beating the San Antonio Spurs in five games. The last time the Knicks called themselves champions, they had a distinct HBCU flavor on their roster, with three of the most prominent players in our lore contributing to the team’s success. The most prominent being Grambling State alum Willis Reed, who reigned as one of the NBA’s top players in the late ’60s and early 70s.

North Carolina A&T racks up top 5 finishes at Division I Track & Field Championships

In the finals of the men’s portion of the NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships, North Carolina A&T put forth a strong showing with multiple top-five finishes. The best performance of the day came from Isaiah Taylor in the 400 hurdles final, claiming third place after crossing the finish line in 49.03 seconds.
