1 INTRODUCTION Human activities have altered 58.4% of terrestrial ecosystems globally, leading to biodiversity loss and habitat fragmentation through widespread landscape modifications such as urbanization and land use changes (Seto et al., 2012). Between 2000 and 2013, an estimated 1.1 million km2 of natural areas were lost, highlighting the accelerating rate of ecosystem degradation and the pressing need for more effective conservation strategies (Williams et al., 2020).
