The Changing Face of the PokerStars Ambassador
The role of the celebrity marketing pitchman — or woman — is as old as marketing itself. "I use this brand, and so should you!" they've shouted for centuries, if not millennia. Recognizable, trustworthy names and faces serve to legitimize brands. The idea is simple, yet powerful. Given a choice between two identical products, the purchasing public can be pushed toward one or the other by the simple measure of a popular figure endorsing it.

Off The Felt: Chinese New Year and Visiting Thailand
This week, we welcomed the Chinese New Year, and Tom and Durrrr's Wife celebrated by sharing another cute photo. I mean, we're seeing a lot of Dwan now lately considering he's been a ghost the last few years. Meanwhile, others traveled to Thailand. I mean, Matthew Waxman was there, Felix Schulze too, and Greg and Julie Merson were spending their honeymoon there. Lily Kiletto was also there! Oh, what a small world... Anyway, some others were finding other ways to enjoy their free time.
Ludovic Geilich and Niall Farrell Debate Thin Value Bet: Who Is Right?
There were many intriguing hands shown on the live stream of the recently completed 2018 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Germany Main Event at King's Casino in Rozvadov. One such hand involved the German pro Ludovic Geilich who went for a very thin value bet on the river against Irishman John Conroy. Niall Farrell was at the table at the time as well, and afterwards he disagreed with Geilich's decision to bet the river. Here's the hand, along with some video commentary below by Geilich and Farrell.
ARIA Poker Classic Schedule Released for 2018
The ARIA Poker Classic returns to the popular ARIA Resort & Casino from May 26 - July 8 with some added mixed-game offerings and more bigger buy-in events, though the series still centers around their classic affordable no-limit hold'em events. PokerNews Op-Ed: Dealing for Titles is "Not Acceptable"
This is a guest post from 2011 World Series of Poker bracelet winner Eric Rodawig, reflecting how he feels about the much-discussed deal at WPT Fallsview. Imagine this: It’s fourth quarter of the Super Bowl, and Tom Brady walks over to Nick Foles up 33-32 and says, “Look, Nick, I want ring No. 6. Why don’t you throw a couple interceptions and we’ll get out of here and you guys can have all the money?” There would be massive outrage, and for good reason.
Mike Leah Wins Again at WPT Fallsview, Snags Main Event Title
Mike Leah won the Falls View Poker Classic $1,100 side event in 2014, 2016, and in 2017. In 2018, though, he failed to cash and set himself the goal of winning the WPT Main Event instead, announcing it on twitter before the tournament started. He did exactly that, coming out on top of a field of 517 players to take home the lion share of the CAD2,337,803 prize pool.
Zheng, Badziakouski Lock Up Big Scores and Platinum Passes in Macau
One of Asia's premier poker events, PokerStars Macau Poker Cup 28, wrapped up over the weekend with some massive prize pools and platinum passes doled out to select winners. Tony Dunst Lays $14K Bet on Super Bowl
Let us just take a moment to realize that the 2017/2018 NFL season is finally coming to an end. Then let's all just cry for a quick bit before we start counting down the days until the next football season begins. Super Bowl LII is this Sunday, and will see two resilient teams take to the field one last time this year — the Philadelphia Eagles vs. the New England Patriots. It's no surprise that sports betting is huge in the U.S., whether legal or not.
Toby Lewis Leads Final Seven in 2018 Aussie Millions Main Event
It took six days to bring the record-breaking field of 800 in the 2018 Aussie Millions Main Event down to its final table. The 36 hopefuls that started the day were whittled down to seven over the course of seven levels. Each of the seven has already secured a massive cash of A$235,000 but all eyes will be on the first-place prize of A$1,800,000, which will be awarded to the victor at Crown Casino on Sunday, February 4.
Regulated Online Poker Revenue Declines in Delaware and New Jersey
In 2017, online gaming was regulated and operating in three states: Delaware, New Jersey and Nevada. Both Delaware and New Jersey allow for online casino and poker, while only online poker is regulated in Nevada. Year-end iGaming revenue for 2017 has been published for both Delaware and New Jersey.

Bluffing With Nothing: Barrel Again or Give Up?
Happy New Year, everyone. Today I wanted to share and discuss a hand I played during a $5,000 buy-in World Series of Poker event last summer, an interesting one that saw me bluffing postflop from out of position with nothing but ace-high. The blinds were 250/500 with a 75 ante. It folded to me in early position (UTG+1) where I'd been dealt , and with a stack of about 13,000 I opened with a raise to 1,100.

The worlds of poker and cryptocurrency continue to intersect, with former Full Tilt Poker executive Rafe Furst the latest to make headlines with his project. While huge poker names like Antanas "Tony G" Guoga and Phil Ivey — with CoinPoker and VirtuePoker, respectively — have sought to marry cryptocurrency and poker directly through backing cryptocurrency-funded online poker rooms, Furst's foray has nothing to do with poker.

Playing Pocket Kings With a Short Stack
Today I have an interesting hand that a lot of people might view as somewhat standard, but I think if you really focus on earning full value from your strong hands, you'll find that often it isn't as simple as just reraising and getting your money in the middle. While it's nice when you can simply get your chips in the middle with your strongest hands, sometimes you have to be a little more deliberate when going about it so as to ensure you keep your opponents' ranges wide.
