Vaccines, particularly peptide-based vaccines, offer a promising and effective strategy to deal with these infections. This study employed advanced bioinformatic tools to identify potential epitopes for vaccine candidates against A. baumannii infections.

Dissemination and characteristics of carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae in nine district hospitals in southwestern China

Highlights – Current studies on the epidemiology and antimicrobial-resistant characteristics of CRKP and/or HV-CRKP mainly concentrated on large tertiary teaching hospitals and ignored the district-level hospitals. – In our study, we found that CRKP strains exhibited a high level of antibiotic resistance, a high proportion of harboring carbapenemases, and hypervirulence phenotype in district hospitals in Southwest, China.

1. Introduction Animal venom is used for defense and predation and is widely utilized among animal phyla, including spiders, snakes, cone snails, and scorpions (Utkin, 2015). It is a cocktail of biological components with specific physiological activities, most of which are toxins that exhibit inherent selectivity (Lewis and Garcia, 2003; Saez et al., 2010).
