Confederate flag controversy continues to escalate in Stafford

Jamie Milloy was reluctant to speak out against the massive Confederate battle flag that flies high over Interstate 95 in Stafford County. The 80-foot flagpole stands on her only neighbor’s property, and she worried about the fallout if she complained. Then, in October, someone vandalized her mailbox with the belief that she owned the flag.

LOOK BACK: Katelin Akens disappeared four years ago today

Katelin Akens disappeared on Saturday, December 5, 2015 on her way to catch a flight back to Lake Havasu City, Ariz., where she lived with her fiancée. Today, on the fourth anniversary of her disappearance, the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Department  again asked for the public's assistance in finding her. Coen intends to seek re-election to Stafford Board of Supervisors

Stafford County Supervisor Tom Coen has announced his intentions to seek re-election on Nov. 5 as the George Washington District representative. “My time in office has allowed me to advocate for the issues we believe in, those significant for the George Washington District, and beyond." Coen said in a news release. "Over the past year, we have confronted many issues: growth, transportation, public safety, the budget and even education.
