Abstract Limited research exists on how modifiable lifestyle factors influence tolerability and response to chemotherapy. We investigated the associations between health-related fitness, physical activity, and sedentary behaviour after diagnosis with relative dose intensity (RDI) and pathologic complete response (pCR) among newly diagnosed breast cancer patients who received neoadjuvant or adjuvant chemotherapy.

The demographic, clinical, and health behaviour characteristics of the study sample were similar to the full cohort of participants [11] (see Table 2). The mean age of this subset was 55.8 years (SD = 13.8), 61% were from Edmonton, most were married or common-law (n = 19), Caucasian (n = 20), had an undergraduate or graduate school education (n = 13), and worked less than 35 h per week (n = 14).
