Jenni Olson is a queer media historian, writer and online pioneer. One of the world’s leading experts on LGBT film history, Jenni has written extensively about LGBT film for such publications as The Advocate, Curve Magazine, Filmmaker Magazine, Indiewire and the San Francisco Bay Guardian. Her wildly entertaining coffee table tome, The Queer Movie Poster Book was a 2005 Lambda Literary Award nominee. She continues to cover LGBT film-related news for Logo TV’s NewNowNext and for various other websites and publications including Queerty.com and FilmmakerMagazine.com. Way back in 1995, Jenni was a co-founder of the pioneering LGBT website, PlanetOut.com where she served as editorial director of the site’s entertainment section. Her extensive other service in the LGBT film world includes work in film distribution and acquisitions, film programming, film marketing, film archiving and, of course, filmmaking. She serves as a consultant to many filmmakers and is on the advisory board of the Outfest/UCLA Legacy Project for LGBT Film Preservation. She is very proud to be the co-founder of the legendary Queer Brunch at Sundance as well as the proud proprietor of Butch.org — a conceptual worldwide safe space dedicated to butches everywhere.
