Have you ever used a typewriter?

I have fond memories of our old Royal and still have a few of the college papers I typed on it from the early '80s, before I got my Mac!

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Barbara Stanwyck's Ann Mitchell in Meet John Doe.

Who do you wish followed you?

I maintain the illusion that I can instill compassion in others via simply being myself. So, maybe Laura Ingraham @IngrahamAngle

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

The New Yorker and NYT Book Review. But top of the list is The American Scholar. Also I adore random arcane industry publications.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

That the main point is to evaluate LGBT films as simply "positive" or "negative."
