Ni-Naadamaadiz: Red Power Rising Photo: courtesy of ImagineNative It was summer 1974 when a group of young Anishinaabe warriors led by Louis Cameron established an armed occupation of Anicinabe Park. They called for the return of the land, which had always been theirs, and for better housing and employment opportunities in Kenora, Ontario. Although they were only able to hold on for a month, it was a pivotal moment in the struggle for equality, propelling the wider movement forwards.
